Blue's Clues - Blue's Room - Alphabet Power Overview

The Power of the Alphabet - Today we're having an alphabet playdate! And guess who's at the door...it's the one and only Alphabet! The infamous 26 letters have actually come over to our room and are ready to play. Adorable puppet letters with funny "take charge" personalities literally take over Blue's Room. Letter and words are everywhere! Throughout the episode, the letters show us all about "Alphabet Power"...the power to Read, Write, and Spell. We play an alphabet game of Doodle in which we learn how to write letters. There's an original Blue's Room game of "Spell it/Pretend it". When we read a word, Blue magically transforms into it. Then we pretend it along with Blue and the Home Viewer. Then our favorite neighbor, Antonio, comes over to share and read one of his favorite books with us, "Chika Chick ABC" by Bill Marin Jr. and John Archambault. By the end of our playdate, we realize just how powerful the alphabet really is!

The Alphabet Train - All aboard! Everyone's in the backyard building an Alphabet Train. The train is made up of twenty-six boxes- one for each letter of the alphabet- and we need to help find something for each box. We play Blue's Clues to figure out what Blue wants to put in the last box. We help Pail figure out which items begin with certain letters. Then we help Periwinkle put a group of letters in the right order. The train is almost finished when we skidoo into a world of letter magnets to identify words beginning with the letters V,W,X, and Y. when the train is complete, we sing a rousing song that names something starting with every letter of the alphabet. Bonus episodes/ Added Value-2nd Menu Page - approx. 50:00 minutes - on DVD only

Let's Write! - Joe and Blue are being writers today! We're making labels for things in our house- like hat, door and Sidetable Drawer. Using our finger, we help Joe write letters and words, paying special attention to the shapes and lines of each letter. And we play Blue's Clues to figure out what Blue wants to write. We help Marky the Marker write labels for boxes in our closet and then skidoo to help Palette write a whole word. We sing a song about some of our favorite letters with Palette, and then head back to solve Blue's Clues. At then end, we celebrate all the words we've written.

Magenta's Messages - Magenta is going on a trip to the beach- and she asked us to take care of her house while she's away! Magenta leaves us a message so we'll know what to do. Blue wants to write a message too, and we play Blue's Clues to figure out what it should say. We spend the whole day at Magenta's house, reading messages and figuring out how to water her plants and feed her fish. Her message tells us to go to the computer, where we hear "Bloop Bloop!" Magenta sent us an email! We help Joe read Megenta's message about what she's been doing at the beach. When Magenta gets home, she thanks us for having done such a wonderful job taking care of her house.

Blue's Clues - Get to Know Joe Overview

BLUE'S CLUES:GET TO KNOW JOE - DVD Movie

Blue's Clues - Get to Know Joe Specifications

This DVD contains four episodes previously released on two VHS tapes, plus the never-released prime time special "100th Anniversary Episode."

Meet Joe!
Steve's younger, and much taller brother is introduced in this pair of episodes, preparing the kids for Joe's eventual taking over of the franchise as Steve heads off to college. (And star-coproducer Steven Burns leaves the blue screen behind for the bright lights of Hollywood.) In "Joe's First Day," Steve follows the clues to find out what Joe (Donovan Patton) will bring for show-and-tell. In "Joe Gets a Clue," the passing of the baton begins as Joe learns the significance of a blue paw print, goes on his first skidoo, and is presented with his very own handy-dandy notebook by Blue. Much is made of the fact that the new notebook is shaped like the thinking chair; look for one in a store near you. Will the kids like Joe as much as their old buddy Steve? Well, Joe's got a different green shirt and more hair, but the same infectious enthusiasm. --Kimberly Heinrichs

It's Joe Time!
After hosting nearly 100 episodes of Blue's Clues, Steve is off to college. That means it's Joe time! Steve's affable younger brother Joe prepares to carry the torch--and the handy dandy notebook--that Clue Master Steve so skillfully carried for years. In episode one, Blue leads Joe on a merry chase to determine what she wants Steve to pack for college. Skidooing to an artfully drawn campus, choosing school subjects, and saying goodbye to a dear friend may well raise more questions and emotions than typical episodes. To their credit, Blue and friends bid a cheerful, tearless farewell and adjust perfectly to smilin' Joe. By the second episode, the new host and his entourage create their own "Big Book About Us," discussing favorite colors, shapes, animals, and more. As always, interaction with the 1- to 5-year-old audience coupled with simple, joyfully presented lessons make for 50 minutes of pure educational pleasure. --Liane Thomas

Blue's Clues - All Kinds of Signs [VHS] Specifications

Hearing-impaired (and Academy Award-winning) actress Marlee Matlin bookends two "Blue's Clues" episodes and gives the tape its theme by teaching Steve some American Sign Language. In the first story--in which Steve and friends attempt to ascertain where a certain blue dog would like to eat her snack--Steve teaches some signs and follows signs of another kind on poster boards. The written signs, of course, lead to the canine's clues, designated by her famous paw print. Blue Scadoo finds Steve jumping into Jane's book and meeting her deaf friend Carly, who tells a story in sign language. In the second episode, Steve tries to figure out where Blue wants to go by using a map the cunning dog has left behind. He eventually jumps into a Candyland-style game, finds Blue with the Gingerbread Girl, and winds up going to the library. Children ages 2 to 5 will enjoy and learn from this 51-minute video. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Steve attaches a bow tie to his famed Rugby shirt and--voilá!--his and Blue's house is a small restaurant serving cheese sandwiches and spaghetti. But the chef team of Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper are missing the ingredients for spaghetti sauce and, of course, that is what all four customers order. So Steve and Blue jump into a grocery store picture to shop for the makings and gather clues for Blue's favorite dessert in the process. The food theme continues in the second episode, "Snacktime," as Steve tries to figure out what his dog wants to drink with her food. Kid viewers learn shapes while putting away groceries and visit a felt farm-scene where they are asked to match chicks in hats. Guaranteed to work or your money back - PLEASE NOTE ALL MONIES FROM THIS SALE GO TO A 501 (C)3 NO KILL ANIMAL SHELTER

Blue's Clues - Playtime With Periwinkle [VHS] Specifications

If you thought periwinkle was only a color, guess again. And while you're guessing, you're ready to play Blue's Clues, the wildly popular Nick Jr. show hosted by Steve Burns. Steve's appeal is that of a cool babysitter who kids adore and parents trust. Wearing his standard khakis and green rugby shirt, Steve sings, dances, and "skadoos" through a computer-generated world of animated objects and colors as yummy as fruit-striped gum. His dog, Blue, leads him in guessing games by leaving pawprints as "clues" that Steve (and viewers) must find and record in their handy-dandy notebook. The show's goal is to promote critical thinking while engaging kids in problem solving. Steve's earnestness adds the chemistry that makes it a hit. "Will you help me?" he asks young viewers with the sincerity of a trusted confidante as he steps up close to the camera, pausing to wait for a reply. Playtime with Periwinkle continues the winning formula with two 25-minute tales. In "Blue's Big Mystery," Steve and Blue find a magic fort in their neighborhood and wonder, Who is the mystery builder? A series of clue-solving questions will promote deductive reasoning and observation skills as young audiences uncover the mystery of Blue's new friend. In the second episode, "Periwinkle Misses His Friend," Blue's new neighbor is homesick for his old friend Plum, until Steve and friends suggest ideas to cheer him up. Viewers will learn coping skills in adjusting to a family move and making new friends. Ages 2 to 6. --Lynn Gibson

Blue's Clues - Blue's Big Musical Movie Overview

Join Steve, Blue and all their friends as they plan a backyard musical show! Preschoolers will help Steve and Blue get the show underway, write an all new song with G-Clef --the voice of Ray Charles, and of course, play Blue's Clues. In Blue's Big Musical Movie, preschoolers will sing, dance, play, and learn that they can be anything they want to be! Includes 6 Brand-New Songs! Promotes Critical Thinking, Music (Curriculum including Notes, Rhythm & Tempo), Problem Solving, Confidence, and Self-Esteem

Blue's Clues - Blue's Big Musical Movie Specifications

Blue bounds into her first feature-length film ready to sing. She gets sidetracked along the way, of course, but that's part of the brilliant Blue's Clues formula. Each half-hour TV show presents engaging, easy-to-grasp mini-mysteries that are within toddlers' reach. This time Blue; her huge-eyed, slightly loopy human companion, Steve; and their cadre of talking-object friends are scurrying around, preparing for a backyard music show that day. Everybody picks a number to perform; Blue's is a duet with Tickety Tock, but the clock contracts laryngitis. Who will be Blue's new partner? A game of Blue's Clues reveals the hardly reluctant replacement. The standard discovery of three clues followed by the usual wind-down song would add up to a colossal disappointment in a feature film, so substantial rounding-out is provided. Steve stumbles onto a keyboard inhabited by a note called G-Clef (the unmistakable voice of Ray Charles), who gives a tour of how to make a song. First you pick the notes, then you work on rhythm, then comes tempo, and, last but not least, "you've got to give it soul." This movie's themes include perseverance (Tickety Tock can't sing but finds a way to contribute anyway) and self-empowerment. Blue's Big Musical Movie is a feast for little eyes and ears; the sets are so colorful they hurt grown-up eyes, and the songs--especially the one that gets the Charles treatment--are all sing-along-with-me winners. --Tammy La Gorce
